First things first, I am going to start off with some commentary I forgot and then I will respond to the comments listed below and then back to the regularly schedule blog.

Oh...wait...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BILLY!!!

Ok, I have learned NYC is bad for my skin. It is always oily and I am sure you all wanted to know that. I have also learned mom does not love Disney as much as she says she does other wise, she wouldn't have jumped 10 feet when we saw a couple of rats and then she proceeded to walk in the middle of the street to avoid coming within 5 ft of them. I have been teasing her that it is just Remy or Mickey, but she is not having any of it. They are just misunderstood chefs or evil corporation symbols...

I did not buy anything at the purse mecca, because they had no burberry. I figure coach is not that far off the affordability scale so I am not going to buy the fake version and I am not huge fan of Chanel or D &G, so I saved my money. Fishbein, I don't care how they make them, I just want a solid nice looking purse for cheap. Bonnie, I hope you have fun tonight and I am sure your week will get to be more exciting!

Now for Day 3...

We leave early and we are off to the Statue of Liberty. I swear to you it is was like re-enacting the trip from Ellis Island to the mainland. We were herded and searched and they had the most intense metal detectors I have ever seen. I don't even what to know what they could possibly be seeing when they are scanning me...I am pretty sure my underwear was clean...anyways. We get on the boat and then we see her. She is really beautiful . This is where my conservative side comes out. I LOVE my country. It is everything to me and I am beyond proud to be an American. The site was amazing, not only for the main reasons people go, but also because there were so many cultures and countries that were in attendance there. (Including this stinky family from France were they don't believe in deodorant...or at least this family didn't.) We went then to Ellis Island and then we made it back to the city.

Mom and I then separated. It was scary, leaving her alone in the big city, but she has proved herself. I go and do the NBC tour and I got to go in the SNL Studio and read from a teleprompter in the NBC News Studio. I almost completely ditched my mom for a taping of Conan O'Brien, but I decided to be a good daughter (First time for everything). I then walked 5th avenue and went and took a picture of my reflection in the Tiffany's window and then I went to the W.O.D. That's right I went to the World of Disney store and we get our discount there! I then walked down to FAO Schwartz and I went to check out their Harry Potter section. It was amazing. I bought my mother a real Hogwarts hat. I am off to go meet up with her to see how she did on her own.

We meet at the Empire State Building. (Here's a tip for you: Go to the bathroom before you go there. The bathroom isn't until the 2nd floor and you have to go through a 30 minute line (at least) to get there. I barely survived!) I give her the hat and then she says, since she has this real hat now I should wear the other one during the convention and that she is paying for my registration, so I really should take a picture with the BOTH of us dressed up. My response: "You masterful guilt tripping skills got me here, but they will not get me in that hat." She starts telling me about her trip to the American Museum of Natural History. She has been so excited to go there for a year and she was desperate to see there new planetarium show. So she gets there and pays her $22 to see the show and starts walking around and realizes that she pretty much saw the museum in "A Night at the Museum" and she just saw similar exhibits in DC at the Smithsonian, but she is going to have her planetarium show! She gets in the theater and finds the best seat...she is ready to go. It starts...and that is all she remembers, because she passes out. Here's the thing, I am not surprised when I hear this story, because everytime we see an IMAX movie or go to a Planetarium she passes out. It is cold and soothing and comfortable and the next she knows the stranger sitting next to her starts nudging her because she is snoring! You know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result...I am just saying.

The Empire State Building is nice and mom denied me from buying book there. I carry on and we make our way to Little Italy for an amazing dinner and gelato! We were sitting next to this family however, that was in a huge fight and following every Italian American stereotype. Mom said it was like going to Tony's and Tina's Wedding (the dinner show).

I am sad to report I did not find Tina Fey. You see Tina:Me::JJ:Billy. It is unhealthy and unnatural. I pretty sure she took her daughter Alice and her husband Richard and they left the City for awhile, but don't worry it is only a matter of time to we meet...only a matter of time!

Alright kiddies, I am off to pack and then tomorrow is my first day in CANADA...eh! I solemnly swear not to follow Britt's footsteps and get kicked out of a country.

Day 2

I realize that our hotel is in the middle of the fake purse mecca. I am excited! We are off early and we find the tour bus company and we get the sight seeing double decker bus. It is amazing and I recommend it to everyone who comes out to the city. We then go see a NY street fair and mom freaks over the unsanitze food. We make it to Rockefellar Center and we walk around and then I am hit with a vision! It is Tina Fey. I run to take my picture with her and I am so excited...too bad it was a billboard of her and not the real thing, but I am determined to find her. So we make a few stops at Nintendo World and the NBC store. We are off to go see Mary Poppins. If I was reviewing the show based on the first act, I would have said the Finding Nemo show at DAk was better, but then the second act was amazing. So it is a pretty good show in all. My mother then makes my day by taking me to the Toy'r'us store! I went in to Barbie's dream us and I found a Captain Jack Sparrow made out of Legos! It was perfection! I also tried to break into Beauty and the Beast's last show! (There is a story about chicken filming a video that begs to be reenacted in person.) We then went on the night bus tour and then we finally make our way to the hotel were I finally find a moment to post this blog! Phew!

Tomorrow...the quest for Tina Fey continues.
Day 1

Actually our story starts before we even leave. You all saw the schedule I posted before and you know that chicken spent a lot of time on it. Well the airline cancelled our flight...we were change to a flight that would arrive at 4 pm...Chicken went ballistic contacting half the world trying to change our flight to an earlier time. She told them that we had to leave because we were going to see the last show of Beauty and the Beast on Sat. at 3pm. (The last show was on Sunday at 7pm.) Finally, she gets a little old lady to get us on a flight that leaves an hour earlier than we were supposed to leave. She tries to contact me to let me know, but I was at Billy's till late and I refused to call her back that late. Well, she stayed up all night waiting for me to call and I stayed up all night, because I knew I had to go pick up mom at 4am. She gets a hold of me at 330 and we are on our way. We make it to the airport and I run into a few of my YES students from earlier in the week during the security check. We barely make the flight because Chicken went to go get bagels for us and was too short to be seen over the counter and they passed her over a few times. We get on the flight and it was a little bumpy, but all is well. (Oh there is a story in here about mom and coffee cream that is better reenacted.) We ride a shuttle to our hotel with this young couple from AZ and they are overwhelmed by the radio station and the shuttle drivers driving ability.

We drop off our stuff and we are off. We start off by walking Wall Street and seeing the NY stock exchange. Mom sees a church and thinks it the church she read about and wanted to go to. It's not, but still a beautiful church and we got a children's book there about how the church went virtually physically unharmed on 9/11 and it is only 2 blocks away. We went to a deli and then we walked to the Ground Zero. We walked the whole perimeter. I could not even believe how much huge an area it was and watching them rebuild it you how deep the damage was. It looked as though they were still pulling debris. We went to the tribute center and I just couldn't help but cry. It was heartbreaking and overwhelming. After that we found the church mom was looking for and we walked around there. We then headed to Times Square and we went in search of cheap tickets.

We get there at 330pm. We check Tkts and we see a few options but don't know what we want to do. We hear there is the lottery that half the musicals are doing. You get there at said time and if you are selected you get front row seats for $25. The first one is hairspray at 5pm. We are off. We get there wait for an hour and we don't get in. Off to Ave Q. No go. Off to Drowsy Chaperone and we failed again. (There is a story in here about me and a real-life Sharpay and that is better left for later.) So we go back to Tkts and we try for 50% tickets for Legally Blonde, Hairspray (There was only 1 left!), and Ave Q. (We would have had to sit separately.) We decide on Forbidden Broadway and I am so glad we did. It is an off-Broadway show and it has been running for years. They constantly update to make fun of the shows that are out and it was awesome! I recommend it for any musical fan. After that we finally come back to get some sleep...Wonder how day 2 will work out...

Here is what I am up against...pray for my soul.

So I have decided to blog my trip to NYC, Niagara Falls, and Toronto with my mother.

So let's set the scene for you all. This is not your ordinary vacation. My mother used her master ninja-like guilt tripping skills to trick me into this vacation with her. It started off just as a trip to Toronto for the convention. Oh wait...I forgot to mention the whole point of this mother - daughter bonding trip is to go to a Harry Potter Convention in Toronto. Yeah...anyways, it grew into a stop in NYC for a few days and now a stop in Niagara Falls for 2 days. My mother has been super excited about this trip for a year now and I felt it was my God-Given duty to annoy her with me pretending like I really don't want to go...now don't get me wrong, this is not a dream vacation, but I will be entertained. Well, she really believes that I have no desire to go on this trip with her....mission accomplished.

Like I said she is really excited about this trip and has been working on the details of it forever. Today I got an email from her with the subject line of schedule. I opened it up and found this:

Needless to say this is the first time in the trip I have been left speechless, we will see how many more times this happens to me during the next 9 days.

I did get one laugh today, since January mother has been bothering me about applying and getting my passport. I finally applied for it in March and she has been panicing since May that is hasn't arrived yet. She spent this past week calling the federal goverment pretending to be me and getting a confirmation from them so I can show my confirmation in Canada and they will use that to allow me in and out of the country. Well, I haven't been worried about it and haven't really put any effort into tracking it down. Well, guess what I got in the mail today 19 hours before my flight leaves? I think this is proof that this trip will work out to my advangtage. Stay tuned for more stories throught the week!
